Brian Niska

Brian Niska is a passionate conservationist and strong advocate for wild fish. A lifelong resident of British Columbia, he has built his career around wild rivers and the sustainable future of their fish.

Brian runs Skeena Spey Riverside Wilderness & Lodge, where he teaches speycasting, guides steelhead anglers, and shares his knowledge of the Skeena watershed. As a Fly Fishers International Master Certified Instructor for both single-hand and speycasting, Brian is recognized across the industry for his exceptional instruction and technical expertise.

A committed leader in the angling community, Brian serves as an active participant in both the Provincial and Skeena Angling Advisory Teams as well as the Lower Skeena Sport Fishing Advisory Committee. Brian is a strong proponent of science based decision making, increased angler education and informed advocacy while maintaining sustainable angler access to the benefit of the resource. Brian is also a podcast host sharing stories, insights, and conservation conversations. He uses this platform to promote responsible angling practices and the protection of B.C.’s iconic salmon and steelhead populations.

Brian is a devoted husband to his wife, Elizabeth, and the proud father of five young anglers who share his love of the water. His life’s work reflects a deep commitment to community, conservation, and the enduring beauty of British Columbia’s wild rivers.
