Not Steelhead Fishing Sucks

All dressed up and no one to dance with.

The 2021 Columbia River Summer Steelhead migration past Bonneville Dam is winding down - but that does not mean that wild steelhead will have an easy time between now and when they spawn in their home rivers.

Our organization called for strong and conservative regulations to protect returning wild steelhead - the fishery agencies responded with rules that reduced angling effort on many important Columbia Basin steelhead rivers - but not all and not for the time period that will be necessary to maintain the conservation benefits of the early-season closures.

The Conservation Angler encourages anglers who care about wild steelhead to rack their rods a while longer.

We are also sharing some videos that suggest some alternative activities.
